A Simple Cyber Attack Detection Scheme for Smart Grid Cyber Security Enhancement

This paper proposes a simple framework for the detection of statistically crafted cyber-attacks, viz., random attacks, denial of service (DoS) attacks, False data injection(FDI) attacks, etc., in smart grids. A new cyber attack detector (CAD) is devised for this purpose which, in turn, is based on two statistical coefficients. The efficacy of the proposed framework is demonstrated on Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS), along with its comparative assessments with another detector under various different attack scenarios.
